Luzon faces rain, thunderstorms–Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — The northern and eastern portions of Luzon are expected to experience cloudy skies with rains, while the rest of the country is forecast to have better weather conditions, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and northern Quezon.
Pagasa noted that the shear line is the convergence of the cold winds of the northeast monsoon and the warm winds of the easterlies.

The Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of the Cagayan Valley will also have cloudy skies with rains, but due to the northeast monsoon.
Pagasa said the same monsoon is also expected to dampen most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are forecast.
In the Bicol Region, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, the easterlies and localized thunderstorms affect the weather. Pagasa said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail in these areas.
Meanwhile, because of the strong northeast monsoon, Estareja said gale warnings are raised in more places.
According to Pagasa, seabords in the following areas are risky for many sea vessels:
- Batanes
- Cagayan
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Isabela
- Aurora
- Northern Quezon
- Calaguas Islands
- Northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes
- Rapu-Rapu, Albay
- Eastern coast of Sorsogon
- Northern and eastern coasts of Northern Samar
- Eastern coast of Eastern Samar
- Kalayaan Islands
- Estareja added that waves in these areas might reach up to six meters high.
