MANILA, Philippines — The Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) has a new acting general manager and board member, Malacañang said Thursday.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Eric Jose Castro to the two posts and his appointment papers were already transmitted to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista on December 15.

Ines will replace former Miaa chief Cesar Chiong, who was dismissed by the office of the Ombudsman after being found liable for grave misconduct, grave abuse of authority, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.

The PCO said Ines finished his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of the Philippines and Airport and Airline Management and Aviation Security course at the Bailbrook College, School of Aviation in the United Kingdom.

Ines was airport station manager of the Etihad Airways and Gulf Air in Manila from March 1, 2006 to December 31, 2017 and from July 1, 1997 to February 28, 2006, respectively, the PCO noted.

The PCO added that Ines served as Senior Executive Assistant to the Secretary of the Department of Local Government and Community Development from April 1, 1973 to March 31, 1986.
