BARMM lawmaker faints while delivering speech in Cotabato City
COTABATO CITY — A member of parliament in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Monday lost consciousness while in the midst of his speech sponsoring a proposed resolution to condemn the Dec. 3 Marawi gymnasium bombing.
Bangsamoro Transition Authority Member of Parliament Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong was in a podium delivering his speech when he suddenly paused, his head slowly nodding, and then, as if he was executing a bow and was about to fell.
His colleagues quickly came to his rescue and rushed him to the hospital.
In a statement, Macasalong said it was merely over-fatigue that had caused him to faint and was “not a cause for serious concern.”
He said he appreciated the public’s show of concern for his health and assured the people that he was physically and mentally healthy.
Aside from being a BTA commissioner, Macasalong also serves as commissioner of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC).
