Demands by communist rebels may derail peace talks – Galvez

Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.

ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, Philippines — Peace advocates welcomed the concurrence by the House of Representatives of the four amnesty measures issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last month.

Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. said the concurrence signifies the House leadership’s strong support for the peace, reconciliation, and national unity agenda of the Marcos administration.

Deputy Speaker Omar Yasser Sema of the Bangsamoro parliament said they were also looking forward to the amnesty grants to help transition former Moro rebel leaders into politics.
