MANILA, Philippines — Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – Region 10 announced on Thursday that its Facebook page has been compromised.
“The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – Region 10 (BFAR-10) would like to announce that our official Facebook page, with the page name “Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region – 10” has been hacked,” BFAR said.
According to the agency, the page is currently under the control of unauthorized person or persons and the bureau is currently unable to get into the account.
“The page is currently under unauthorized control, and the legitimate administrators do not have access to this account,” BFAR Region 10 said.
“This security breach is a matter of grave concern, as it may result in the dissemination of misleading information and misuse of the Bureau’s official platform,” it continued.
“We are taking immediate action to address this issue and working diligently to regain control of the page,” it added.
BFAR likewise warned the public against engaging with the hacked account.
“In the meantime, we urge the public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with any suspicious or unauthorized content posted and messages sent using the compromised Facebook account,” the regional office said.
