Don James-Red rules Flashback basketball

THE Don James-backed Red Team crushed the Flashback All Stars-White, 87-75 last Sunday to rule the Flashback 2011 First Conference inter-color basketball tournament at the Don Vicente Rama Memorial gym.

Don James-Red led by 10 in the first quarter, 33-23 behind triggerman Jingjing Rama who had 13 points and Tata Batuhan who had 11 markers in the opening period then ruled the half, 47-32.

In the fourth quarter, Flashback-White rallied from a 17-point 3rd quarter deficit to come to within two, 70-72 with 2:25 remaining. But Rama nailed two successive triples to bail them out of danger.

Earlier, Camille Kyle-Black of Danny Bagcat lifted the third place trophy after Al Riche-Al Rose Bakeshop-Blue defaulted their game.

Flashback president Bebot Murillo awarded the cash, trophies and medals to the top performing teams and individuals right after the championship game.

Rama made it a double celebration by bagging the coveted MVP award. He also made the Mythical Five selection alongside Andy Fuentes, Tubrok Vidal, Lito Fuentes and Tito Mirasol.

Other individual awardees were Prince Llamedo (Best Defensive Player), Christopher Rama (Most Improved Player) and Jerry Tindoy (Sportsmanship award).
