MANILA, Philippines — The local government unit (LGU) of Manila on Tuesday concluded its 12-day distribution of Christmas gift boxes for its residents and started giving gifts to its senior citizens on Wednesday.

According to the city’s public information office (PIO), the annual distribution of the Christmas gift boxes started last Dec. 1.

In a message to reporters, the LGU’s spokesperson Princess Abante said around 695,000 gift boxes were given to the 896 barangays of the city.

The LGU also said that the boxes contain foods usually served on Christmas Eve, more popularly known as “Noche Buena.”

Meanwhile, the giving out of Christmas boxes for the city’s senior citizens began this Wednesday and will continue until Thursday.

“Today and tomorrow ang distribution ng Christmas boxes ng senior citizens,” Abante said.
