MANILA, Philippines — Three persons were injured in two separate fires in Metro Manila on Tuesday, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.
BFP responded to a blaze that swept through a residential area in Happyland, Tondo, Manila, at 3:09 a.m.
The fire reached the fourth alarm at 4:16 a.m.
BFP said a volunteer, identified as Christian Gracio, sustained a small wound on his left arm.
Personnel from the emergency medical service attended to him.
On the other hand, Jessary Diestro, a minor who has a history of asthma, suffered from difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness.
She was then taken to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center.
The fire was put out at 6:57 a.m.
It burned around 100 houses made of light materials.
Meanwhile, a fire also occurred in a residential building in Little Baguio, San Juan city.
Firefighters responded to the incident at 3:06 a.m., which reached the second alarm at 3:23 a.m.
“Fire out” was declared at 4:21 a.m.
BFP said a resident named Erwin Reyes sustained first-degree burns in his right forearm.
The two fires are under investigation to determine the origins, causes and amounts of damage.
