MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) announced Tuesday it is currently accepting applications for the Chief Marshal and three Deputy Marshals positions.
The two posts, which are under the Office of the Judiciary Marshals, shall be “responsible for the security, safety, and protection of the members, officials, personnel, and property of the Judiciary, including the integrity of the courts and judicial proceedings,” the SC said in a statement.
The Chief Marshal will lead the Office of the Judiciary Marshals, while the three Deputy Marshals will be stationed in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, respectively.
The qualifications for Chief Marshal are as follows:
- A natural-born citizen of the Philippines;
- Preferably a member of the Philippine Bar; and
- Rank of at least a full Colonel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) or the Philippine National Police (PNP) or Assistant Director in the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), with experience in investigation in all instances.
On the other hand, the qualifications for Deputy Marshals are:
- A natural-born citizen of the Philippines and
- Rank of at least a full Colonel in the AFP or the PNP or Assistant Regional Director of the NBI, with experience in the investigation in all instances.
“However, under Sections 7 and 8 of the Judiciary Marshals Act, a Chief Marshal or Deputy Marshal may nevertheless be appointed despite not having been a full Colonel of the AFP or the PNP, or an Assistant Director/Assistant Regional Director of the NBI, if he or she has a proven track record and adequate experience in investigation and law enforcement,” the SC’s statement also said.
Those who are interested in applying may submit two sets of the following documents that include:
- Application letter;
- Latest and duly accomplished Personal Data Sheet, with Work Experience Sheet (CS Form 212, Rev. 2017);
- Birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority;
- Official Transcript of Records; and
- Service Record
The SC said these documents should be submitted to the Office of Administrative Services.
Applications may be submitted to the SC Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board on or before December 29, 2023.
The Office of the Judiciary Marshals was created under Under Republic Act 11691, which was signed into law in 2022.
