The Philippines has filed a diplomatic protest against China over its recent aggressions on the West Philippine Sea over the weekend, said Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Spokesperson Teresita Daza on Monday.

“Yes [we filed a diplomatic protest], we used the maritime communication mechanism, and it was used yesterday at 12 o’clock noon. The DFA launched its diplomatic protest with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a phone call,” she said during a media briefing.

Meralco cuts December electricity rate by nearly 80¢ per kWh

Lower generation charge pulled down distributor Manila Electric Co.’s (Meralco) rates in the December billing period by P0.7961 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), bringing the overall electricity rate of a typical household to P11.2584 per kWh, the company announced on Monday.

This is equivalent to a decrease of P159 in the bill of a customer consuming 200 kWh a month.
