MANILA, Philippines—An officer of the New People’s Army was arrested in an entrapment operation by police and military forces in Lianga, Surigao del Sur Wednesday, the military said in a belated report.

In a statement, Major Eugenio Osias of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division identified the communist rebel as Hermes Domandan, known as Teddy Bagger, political and finance officer of Platoon 8 of the Guerilla Front 19B of  the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee.

Domandan, who was arrested in Diagaton village at about 3 a.m., has a standing warrant of arrest for rebellion in a local court in Lianga.
Seized from him were a hand grenade, three cell phones, and cash amounting to P9,760, Osias said.
