MANILA, Philippines — Political parties and party-list groups have until Dec. 29 to register to participate in the May 12, 2025 midterm national and local elections, reminded the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
No registration deadline for political parties that intend to field candidates exclusively in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has been set yet.
“A different deadline will be fixed pending the approval of the implementing rules and regulations of the Bangsamoro Electoral Code of 2023,” clarified the Comelec.
The Comelec set the deadline last May.

Political parties and party-list groups have to be officially accredited by the Comelec to participate in the 2025 national elections.
Comelec said it would accept registration petitions Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and would allow the electronic filing of petitions.
As this developed, only around 100,000 new overseas voters have so far registered to vote in the 2025 midterm elections, a year after registration opened.
