Whirlwind, floods hit Mindanao; 13 families affected, crops damaged

MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen families were affected by a whirlwind that hit Bukidnon Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Friday.
One house was destroyed and twelve houses were damaged in Purok-1,Lumbo village, Valencia City.
A local disaster risk and reduction management team was sent to conduct further damage and assessment in the area.
No casualties were reported, the NDRRMC said.
Meanwhile, in a belated report, the NDRRMC said flashfloods hit Lambingi and Kusan villages in Banga, South Cotabato Wednesday.
It said 26.7 hectares of cornfields in Lambingi were destroyed, as well as properties and infrastructure in Kusan.
Twelve farmers in Lambingi, while two in Kusan were said to have been affected by the flashfloods but no casualties were reported, the NDRRMC said.
