Antique bus crash death toll climbs to 18

MANILA, Philippines — The number of fatalities in the Ceres bus crash in Hamtic, Antique, has risen from 17 to 18, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) reported on Thursday.

Michael Tolentino of the Antique PDRRMO said another passenger who was last listed in critical condition died Wednesday morning.

“Isang additional is female na na-admit sa ospital, nareport po kahapon at around 10:20 pm na namatay while admitted sa hospital sa Iloilo” Tolentino told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.

Tolentino added that the remaining critical patients, even the four passengers in stable condition, are still in the hospital recovering from their injuries.

Earlier, the Antique provincial government reported that 16 persons died on the spot following the accident, while another died in the hospital on Wednesday morning. 

The report also revealed that most of the victims are from Antique, while two are foreigners.
