Around 47, 678 public schools join simultaneous tree planting nationwide
Dubbed “DepEd’s 236,000 Trees – A Christmas Gift for the Children,” the department said it targets promoting environmental preservation and responsibility among the youth.
The activity was attended not just by students and teachers but also by DepEd officials, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
DepEd also noted that the tree planting activity is a “gift from the Department to ensure a clean and green environment for Filipino children and future generations.”
The activity’s main program was conducted at Pasig Central Elementary School.
It was led by DepEd Undersecretary spokesperson Michael Poa, National Capital Region Director Jocelyn Andaya, and Pasig Representative Roman Romulo.
Before the program started, the DepEd, Office of the Vice President, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources also signed a memorandum of agreement for another initiative titled “Pagbabago: A Million Trees Campaign.”
