MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday reported the apprehension of 4,864 motorists who were operating their vehicles without registration nationwide.

The said number, according to the LTO in a statement, reflects the total apprehended motorists since the beginning of the agency’s intensified “No Registration, No Travel” operations in November.

Data showed that Cagayan Valley Region had the highest number of apprehended delinquent motor vehicles at 657, followed by Eastern Visayas with 531, and Mimaropa with 514.

In Mindanao, a total of 386 were apprehended in Zamboanga Peninsula, then Davao Region with 357, and Soccksksargen with 250.

Meanwhile, despite being identified as the region with the most number of delinquent motor vehicles, Metro Manila only recorded 251 apprehensions.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II then reiterated his call to the driving public to have their vehicles registered to avoid apprehension.

“So we appeal again to all delinquent motor vehicles to voluntarily renew the registration of their motor vehicles,” said Mendoza.

“Huwag na ninyong dagdagan ang inyong problema dahil kapag nahuli kayo, mas malaking halaga ng pera ang babayaran ninyo,” he added.

(Do not add to your problems because if you get caught, you will have to pay a larger amount of money.)

Mendoza said strategic operations will be conducted in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon, which were identified as the three regions with the most number of delinquent motor vehicles.

Mendoza previously revealed that of the 24.7 million vehicles are currently unregistered nationwide.
