MANILA, Philippines — Independent pandemic monitor Octa Research on Tuesday recorded a rise in Metro Manila’s weekly COVID-19 positivity rate, increasing from the previous week’s 7 percent to 10.2 percent.
According to Octa fellow Guido David, the latest figure reflects COVID-19 cases recorded in Metro Manila as of December 3.
“This is accompanied by a 50 percent increase in daily cases over a period of one week,” said David in data he posted through X, formerly Twitter.
Despite the rise in cases, David noted that hospital occupancy in the region remained low at 18 percent.

Based on the Department of Health’s online COVID-19 tracker as of December 4, the total COVID-19 caseload in the country sits at 4,126,765, with recoveries at 4,055,688, active cases at 3,311, and deaths at 66,766.
