MRT-3 to refile petition for fare increase within the week
MANILA, Philippines — The management of the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) on Monday said it is set to refile its petition for a fare increase within the week.
The proposed fare adjustment will increase MRT-3’s distance fare by 21 cents (from P1 to P1.21) and its boarding fee by P2.29 (from P11 to P13.29).
Once approved, the minimum fare will increase from P13 to P16, and the maximum or end-to-end fare from P28 to P34.
Transport Asec. and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette Aquino clarified that implementing the proposed adjustment will only take effect around 2024.
