MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended the term of General Benjamin Acorda Jr. as the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) until March 31, 2024, according to the Palace on Monday.
Acorda turned 56 on December 3, reaching the PNP’s mandatory retirement age.
“I wish to inform you that, pursuant to the provisions of existing laws, your service as Chief (Police General), Philippine National Police, is hereby extended until 31 March 2024,” Marcos said in a letter to the PNP chief.
According to the Palace, Marcos believes Acorda has led the PNP well.
