MANILA, Philippines — House of Representatives is ready to assist the victims of Mindanao State University (MSU) bombing.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez made the statement on Sunday night, hours after the blast during a Catholic mass at MSU Marawi City campus’ gymnasium claimed four lives and injured at least 50 persons.
“The House of Representatives is fully committed to supporting the affected residents and ensuring that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice,” the Speaker said.
“We stand ready to provide the necessary assistance to aid in the recovery and healing of the community,” he added.
“This tragic event, occurring in a place of learning and fellowship, is deeply troubling. We must work together to maintain peace and prevent such incidents from derailing the peace process in Mindanao,” he noted.
As of now, Islamic State (IS) militants have claimed responsibility for the bombing.
The incident occurred in the same town where pro-IS groups laid siege for five months in 2017.
