PAGADIAN CITY — The local governments of Zamboanga del Sur province and Iligan City were sending transport vehicles to Marawi City to fetch their residents who are currently studying at Mindanao State University (MSU) following security jitters triggered by Sunday morning’s bombing that killed at least four Christian worshippers and injured dozens of others.

Provincial Information Officer Jesreel Himang told the Inquirer that Gov. Victor Yu has heeded calls for help by students who expressed insecurity while inside the MSU campus due to the bombing incident.

A similar effort is also being organized by Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao.

On social media, Siao assured Iligan residents that vehicles of the local government would round them up inside the campus when security personnel of MSU, the military, and the police give the go-signal for them to enter.

A student first requested for the Iligan local government to fetch them as public transport is difficult at this time.

On Sunday, following the bombing incident, the MSU administration called off classes at the Marawi campus until further notice.
