MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Saturday warned vendors who are selling uncertified Christmas lights that they face penalties that could go as high as P25,000 or even more depending on their wares.
Assistant Trade Secretary Amanda Nograles said in a radio interview that they will fine sellers caught selling Christmas lights that have no Philippine Standard (PS) marks or no Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers.
“If there is no PS mark or ICC sticker, and they sell Christmas lights, that’s a P25,000 [fine]. Under the rules, the penalty is per brand, per type,” Nograles said. “But if the seller has an undertaking that they will comply, it will be reduced slightly, around P17,500.”
