fake warning sign

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has debunked a Facebook post claiming Police Brigadier General Rommel Francisco Marbil as the new PNP chief as fake.

The post, circulating on social media, featured Francisco’s picture alongside the template of the PNP Public Information Office.

“This is to inform the public that the Facebook post showing the picture of PM Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil as the new Chief PNP, circulating in social media using the template of PNP PIO, is fake and not issued by the PNP Public Information Office,” the PNP clarified in its statement.

The police force emphasized that it had no involvement with the misleading post and stressed that it should not be regarded as an official announcement or endorsement.

To prevent misinformation, the PNP urged the public to rely on its official channels for accurate announcements and updates.

“We encourage everyone to please exercise caution, and refer to the official website and Facebook page of the PNP for any announcements and updates,” the PNP sa.
