MANILA, Philippines — A lawmaker has lauded the recent developments on a proposed airport in Dinagat Island on Friday, marking the first such facility in the area.
Dinagat Islands Representative Alan Ecleo said the airport would enhance tourism and development.
“An operational airport in Dinagat Islands would boost tourism and foster great development in Dinagat Islands,” Ecleo said.
He also mentioned that a necessary study from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Association is in progress.
“We welcome these developments as they would increase accessibility to our islands by lowering the cost of transportation,” he said.
“This is good news not just for our local tourism, but also for agriculture, manufacturing, and our overall economy,” Ecleo added.
Experts from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines conducted an ocular inspection of potential sites on the islands on Tuesday and Wednesday.
