The Commission on Elections says it disqualified Smartmatic Philippines Inc. from participating in any bidding for its procurements.
“We disqualified Smartmatic to participate in all Comelec procurement,” Comelec chair George Garcia told reporters through Viber on Wednesday.

DOH chief allays fears amid reports of respiratory illnesses in China
Health Secretary Ted Herbosa assures Filipinos that there is no need to panic in light of reports of an increase in respiratory illnesses in Northern China.
He was referring to a World Health Organization report published on November 22 regarding the increased cases of respiratory diseases and clusters of undiagnosed pneumonia among Chinese children.
DENR confirms compliance of 2 Pasay reclamation projects
Environment Secretary Toni Loyzaga says two reclamation projects in Pasay City were able to comply with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources requirements.
While Loyzaga reiterated that it was not within the DENR’s power to suspend reclamation projects, the agency must conduct a compliance review. The DENR issues an environmental compliance certificate (ECC), which is needed before a company can undertake a reclamation project.
