MANILA, Philippines — Two weather systems are expected to bring rain to many parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Wednesday.
The easterlies are forecast to cause rainy weather over the eastern parts of Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas while the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will affect Northern Luzon.
Easterlies are warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean.
In a weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region may expect overcast skies and rain because of the easterlies.
Weather specialist Grace Castañeda advised residents in the mentioned areas to take caution against possible flooding and landslides as moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur.
“Pag-iingat po sa ating mga kababayan sa posibilidad ng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa,” the weather specialist said.

The state weather agency also said that combined effects of the easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
As for Batanes and Babuyan Islands, cloudy skies with rain are possible due to the northeast monsoon.
Castañeda further said during the early Wednesday morning public weather forecast that Pagasa has not monitored any weather disturbance within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
“We are not monitoring any bad weather that will affect our country,” she said in Filipino.
Meanwhile, Pagasa’s gale warning due to the northeast monsoon remains in effect in Batanes, Ilocos Norte, and Cagayan coastal areas, including the Babuyan Islands.
