MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a 90-day preventive suspension on the driver’s license of a truck driver involved in a crash that killed four children in Pampanga on Friday.
LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II said on Sunday that the suspension on the license of the Isuzu Forward truck driver will be effective until the investigation of LTO-Central Luzon is done.
Regional Director Ronnie Montejo, who is leading the investigation, said that a Show Cause Order was already issued against the driver who was identified to be a resident of Himalayan City in Negros Occidental.
“Lagi po tayong nagpapa-alala sa ating mga motorista, lalo na ang mga driver ng mga malalaking sasakyan, na lubos na mag-ingat dahil mya mga buhay na nakataya sa kalsada,” Mendoza said in a statement.
(We are reminding our motorists, especially the drivers of large vehicles, to be extremely cautious because there are lives at stake on the road.)

According to the report from the local police to LTO-Central Luzon, the incident took place on November 22 in Porac, Pampanga.
The victims, a father and his four children aged 2 to 10, were traveling in a kolong-kolong, a type of tricycle used for transporting materials, when they were rear-ended by the truck, causing them to veer into the opposite road and resulting in a collision with a dump truck.

Two of the children died on the spot while the two others succumbed to serious injuries in a hospital, LTO reported.
The truck driver has since been under police custody and may soon face a corresponding complaint.
