2 HOUSES IN BOGO STRAFED

THE houses of a retired policeman and a barangay councilor were strafed in separate shooting incidents in Bogo City, northern Cebu.

No one was seriously injured.

Police said politics may have something to do in the strafing of the houses of  Constancio Cueva Jr. and Teofilo Tudtud.

Cueva, a retired policeman, is one of the security officers of Bogo City Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr.

Tudtud is a councilor in barangay Cayang and a political supporter of Martinez.

Police said Cueva and his family were asleep when their house was shot up  at 12:15 a.m. yesterday.

Cueva sustained scratches in the legs when he was hit by broken jalousie blades.

Police recovered 21 empty shells for a .9mm pistol, 24 empty shells for a .45 pistol and several deformed slugs outside Cueva’s house.

Tudtud’s house was strafed by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle about 30 minutes later.

Barangay Cayang is about six kilometers from barangay Taytayan.

Tudtud and his family were inside the house during the attack.

EX-INMATE SHOT DEAD

A MAN out on bail for a frustrated murder charge was shot dead in barangay Argawanon, San Remigio town, northern Cebu.

Medison Aton, 42, was shot by a still-unidentified assailant while he was driving a motorcycle around 7 p.m. last Tuesday.

Aton was shot four times in the chest and left arm. He was declared dead by doctors at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City.

Police said no one came forward to give a witness account. The shooter  fled on a motorcycle parked a few meters  away.

Police are looking into personal grudge or revenge as possible motives in the killing.

Aton posted bail about a year ago.

MAN STABBED DEAD BY NEIGHBOR

A 20-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed dead by a neighbor after they argued in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Jerome Secusana was stabbed in the chest by Vladimer Wasawas, 21.

Wasawas surrendered to the police after the incident.

Police said the two men were seen arguing last Tuesday night when Wasawas drew a knife and stabbed Secusana.

Secusana’s brother intervened to stop the attack. The victim was brought to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital but did not make it alive./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

EX-CON GUNNED DOWN

AN EX-CONVICT was killed while his two companions were wounded when they were shot while eating in a shanty in barangay Usmad, Argao town, southern Cebu.

Terso  Zamora was shot in the head.

Michael Villafuerte, 34, and Jesie Fameron, 29, were confined in a hospital with gunshot wounds in the body.

Police said the assailants attacked the victims while they were having dinner in a shanty at the side of the road around 7 p.m. last Tuesday.

The assailants fled toward barangay Panadtaran, said police.

Police are still investigating the motive for the attack.

Police said Zamora was convicted for charges of illegal possession of firearms in 1991. He was released from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in August last year./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

MAN NABBED FOR TALISAY BURGLARY

A MAN who was allegedly a member of an organized “Akyat Bahay Gang” was arrested in barangay Mohon, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

Police said James Riambunanza, 22, a native of Clarin town, Bohol, was one of the two men who burglarized the house of Clyde Marapao in Villa Raya Subdivision in barangay Lawaan, Talisay, last Tuesday afternoon.

Riambunanza’s alleged cohort, Junjun Reyes, of barangay Tejero, Cebu City, eluded arrest.

Pieces of jewelry and laptop units amounting to P300,000 were stolen during the burglary. No one was at home when the burglars struck.

Police said the burglars climbed the second floor of the house using a wooden ladder then removed an air-conditioning unit. The burglars entered the house through the hole on the wall.

The suspects were spotted by Marapao’s neighbors fleeing on a tricycle.

Police were alerted that led Riambunanza’s arrest.  Some of the stolen items were recovered from Riambunanza.

Charges were filed against the two men, yesterday, said police.
