MANILA, Philippines — The Cash and Rice Distribution (CARD) program, which will provide food and financial assistance to beneficiaries, was launched in Isabela on Saturday.
According to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, this program was the government’s way to make rice accessible to people.
(Congress has accepted the challenge to help, and we have coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and our friends from the rice industry to ensure the accessibility of rice to our countrymen.)
Three thousand beneficiaries in Isabela received a 1,000-peso financial assistance and 25 kilograms of rice.
The program was earlier launched in Metro Manila, the cities of Biñan and Sta. Rosa in Laguna, and in Bukidnon. It aims to give cash and rice assistance to 10,000 beneficiaries for each legislative district.

Romualdez added that the poor, senior citizens, those with disabilities, solo parents, and indigenous people will be prioritized in the program.
(We will give priority to our countrymen who are poor, senior citizens, those with disabilities, solo parents, and indigenous people in the CARD program and other government programs.)
