High-powered firearms recovered after clash in Camarines Norte

In a Camarines Norte town, an alleged member of the NPA was killed on February 11 in an encounter with the government troops.

LEGAZPI CITY – Government troops recovered several high-powered firearms after an encounter with suspected members of the New People’s Army in Labo town Camarines Norte on Saturday morning (November 25).

Major Frank Roldan, spokesperson of the 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, said in a report that while conducting an operation, the 9th Infantry Battalion had a 15-minute firefight with the suspected rebels in Barangay (village) Macogon at around 7:56 a.m.

Found in the area were M16 rifle, a caliber .22 rifle, three M16 long magazines, a M16 short magazine, a M14 long magazine and a backpack with 20-meter electric wire and documents.

Roldan said no one was hurt on the government side while a follow-up operation was ongoing.
