Preliminary probe into beauty queen's disappearance set in December

MANILA, Philippines — The preliminary investigation on the suspects involved in the disappearance of beauty queen Catherine Camilon has been set in December, Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Friday.

“Sa December 9 and 14 po yung schedule ng preliminary investigation kung saan inaasahan po natin na yung mga suspects po ay magsu-submit po ng kanilang counter-affidavit,” PNP Spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said in a press conference.

(The preliminary investigation for the suspects are scheduled on December 9 and 14, when the suspects will submit their counter-affidavits.)

Complaints were filed against Police Major Allan de Castro and three others for kidnapping and illegal detention.

According to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director Major General Romeo Caramat, De Castro invoked his right to remain silent on the case.

Fajardo said police are waiting for the results of the blood tests on the samples found in the vehicle that was abandoned in Batangas.

Witnesses had said the vehicle was similar to the one in which Camilon‘s body was allegedly boarded.

“Sa hinihintay na po nating resulta ng examination doon po sa dugo po na possible na blood sample na na-lift po ng forensic group doon po sa na-recover na red CR-V,” Fajardo said.

(We are still waiting for the results of the examination of the blood sample lifted by the forensic group from the recovered red CR-V.)

Earlier, PNP said DNA of the hair strands found in the vehicle matched the samples of the DNAs taken from Camilon’s parents.
