Cebu City fire kills 4 kids, hurts 2 adults, guts 7 houses

CEBU CITY — The three siblings and an 11-month-old boy, who died during a fire on Thursday, Nov. 23, in Sitio Capaculan in Barangay Tisa, have been identified.

Angelo Bayaton, 10; Crylle Bayaton, 6; Christina Bayaton, 1; and 11-month-old Amari Zane Cabornay were trapped inside two separate houses, according to investigator Fire Officer Fulbert Navarro.

“All were burned beyond recognition,” he said.

Two adults also suffered first-degree burns.

The fire also guts seven houses.

The Cebu City Fire Department received the fire alarm at 5:51 a.m. and was controlled after 15 minutes.

Initial investigation showed that the father of the Bayaton siblings and his wife left the house early to go to their respective jobs.

Data as to the circumstances of Cabornay’s death is not yet available as of 8 a.m.
