PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — Five soldiers and three members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) are now safe from harm after the military truck they were riding on overturned in Leon Postigo town, Zamboanga del Norte on Monday.

Lt. Col. Anshary Pumbaya, commander of the Army’s 106th Infantry Battalion based in Imelda town, Zamboanga Sibugay, said the wounded soldiers and militiamen are now in stable condition at a hospital in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.

They were rushed there by civilians in Leon Postigo who came to their aid after the accident.

Major Jairus Mark Mira, information officer of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, said the vehicle, a KM250 of the 44th IB, was travelling towards Leon B. Postigo when it lost its brake and overturned along the highway in Sitio Kalawit of Barangay Tinaplan.

Pumbaya’s troops and those from the 97th IB based in Piñan town in Zamboanga del Norte, immediately proceeded to the site for a rescue.

Those who figured in the accident belong to the 44th IB.
