COTABATO CITY–Police are still investigating the motive and the possible identities of the perpetrators in the killing of a reelected village councilman in Sultan Mastura town, Maguindanao del Norte on Monday.
Capt. Elmar Elarcosa, Sultan Mastura police chief, said they are still seeking out witnesses and those with information about the shooting of Anwar Mamukan, 48, of Barangay Balut.
Mamukan was ambushed on Monday afternoon while driving his white Suzuki multicab vehicle (plate number MAV-4906) at about 4 p.m. Upon reaching the crossroad in Barangay Balut and the Narciso Ramos highway, two men aboard a motorbike shot him several times.

Responding police personnel found empty shells for caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
Elarcosa said Mamukan sustained six gunshot wounds in various parts of his body resulting in his instantaneous death.
