PNP: Guns used in Nueva Ecija bus shooting used in 3 previous incidents

MANILA, Philippines — The guns that were used to kill two victims inside a bus in Nueva Ecija last Wednesday have already been used in three previous shooting incidents, the Philippine National Police has learned.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo on Tuesday said this was based on the cross-matching and ballistics examination of the recovered slugs after the incident.

“Tapos na ang ginawang cross matching at ballistics examination doon sa mga basyo ng baril na ginamit sa loob ng Victory Liner,” Fajardo said in a press briefing at PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame.

(The cross-matching and ballistics examination is done for the slugs of the gun used inside the Victory Liner shooting.)

Fajardo said that the suspects in the previous three shooting incidents — two in Nueva Ecija and the other in Isabela — could also be the ones culpable in the bus shooting last week.

“Itong mga baril na ito ay ginamit sa tatlong previous shooting incidents: isa po sa Isabela at dalawa po ay sa Nueva Ecija,” Fajardo said.

(These guns were already used in three previous incidents: one in Isabela and two others in Nueva Ecija.)

“Possibly po na kung sino ang suspects sa previous incidents ay sila rin ang involved sa kaso involving ang dalawang biktima na binaril sa loob ng Victory Liner,” she added.

(Possibly, the suspects in these incidents could also be the ones involved in the case of two victims shot inside the Victory Liner.)

A female victim and her live-in partner were shot dead by unidentified gunmen while in transit in the town of Carranglan on November 15.

The gunmen shot the victims four times in the head and neck.

The son of the female victim in the bus shooting in Nueva Ecija is being eyed as a “person of interest” in the case.

While refusing to divulge other details, Fajardo assured the public that a  bombshell development would emerge in the coming days.

“What I can assure you, confident tayo na in the coming days, may breakthrough sa kasong ito.”
