DOT sees positive outlook for PH after winning back-to-back travel awards
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) said on Monday that it is optimistic about the tourism prospects of the Philippines after winning back-to-back recognitions from travel award giving bodies.
In a statement, DOT said that renowned travel magazine Wanderlust awarded the Philippines as the fourth Most Desirable Country for Adventure in its 22nd Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards.
Meanwhile, the country was also named as Destination of the Year in the ninth TripZilla Awards.
DOT’s attached agency, the Tourism Promotions Board, was also hailed as the Sustainability Leader of the Year for Asia by the same award-giving body.
According to DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, the awards affirm the nation’s standing as a “top-of-mind destination among all types of travelers.”
“These recognitions underscore the Philippines’ stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and Filipino brand of service excellence that makes for an enhanced Philippine tourism experience under the Marcos Administration,” Frasco said.
“On behalf of the Department of Tourism, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has risen to our President’s call for tourism transformation, which expands opportunities for livelihood and employment, driving the growth of the Philippine economy further,” she added.
