THREE persons, including a 4-year-old boy, were killed in separate road accidents across Cebu.
Jennylito Tañajura was killed while his wife was wounded when the motorcycle they rode on was hit by a passenger bus in barangay South Poblacion, San Fernando town, southern Cebu, last Monday afternoon.
Police said the motorcycle driven by Tañajura with his wife Margarita as backrider was crossing in an intersection when it was hit by a Ceres bus driven by Ronnie Villaros, 29, resident of barangay Vallahermoso, Carcar City.
The impact threw the couple off the motorcycle.
Police said Tañajura hit his head on the concrete pavement.
The couple was rushed to the South General Hospital in Naga City where Tañajura was declared dead by attending doctors. The wife was later moved to a hospital in Cebu City.
Villaros was detained at the San Fernando police precinct while waiting for charges to be filed against him.
In Sibonga town, a 7-year-old boy died after he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing a road in barangay Bagacay.
Police identified the fatality as Johnreill Española.
The driver of the motorcycle, Virgilio Jeolin, a barangay treasurer in Dumalan, Dalaguete town, was arrested around 9 a.m. yesterday.
Jeolin said he sped off after the accident for fear of his safety.
Jeolin said he didn’t notice the boy cross the road.
Española was brought by some residents to the Dr. Deiparine Medical Clinic but he did not make it alive.
Jeolin was detained at the Sibonga police precinct.
A 4-year-old boy was also killed after he was hit by a motorcycle in barangay Ticad, Bantayan Island, northern Cebu
Police said Bryan Apa went out of their house unnoticed and went to the road.
Police said Apa tried to cross the road when he was hit by a motorcycle driven by Alfonso Tiro, 39.
Tiro and his two backriders were wounded in the accident.
The boy was taken to the Bantayan District Hospital but did not make it alive.
