BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — A 76-year-old newly elected village chief in Aritao in Nueva Vizcaya province was shot and killed by a still unidentified man while inside his house on Friday, November 17, police said in a report Saturday, November 18.
Police said in the report that Rolando Hipolito Serapon had just taken his oath of office as the newly-elected chair of Barangay (village) Calitlitan before he was killed at past 7 p.m.
Serapon was talking to a kinswoman when the motorcycle-riding gunman arrived and repeatedly shot him with a caliber .45 handgun, hitting his head and body, the report said.
The report also said the medium-built gunman, who wore a green face mask, immediately fled after the incident. Witnesses said the killer wore black shorts with stripes and a black shirt.
The victim died while being taken to the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital.
Police have been gathering closed-circuit television camera footage and witnesses as part of the investigation.
