Romualdez, Tingog party-list to provide aid to Mindanao quake victims

MANILA, Philippines — The office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez and the Tingog party-list will provide P20 million in aid as well as 5,000 food packs for the victims of the magnitude 6.8 earthquake in Mindanao on Friday.

“Speaker Romualdez and Tingog Partylist are committed to doing our part to provide comfort and relief in these challenging times. The Speaker underscored the need for us to stand for the victims,” House Deputy Secretary General Sofonias Gabonada said.

Aside from the P20 million aid, Romualdez also helped in the release of a P10 million medical assistance and a separate P10 million aid for individuals in crisis, Gabonada added.

Construction materials will also be given to the affected residents.

Gabonada added that the Office of the House Speaker is coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways and local representatives for the repair of damaged public structures.

According to the Office of Civil Defense, seven people died from the earthquake.
