MANILA, Philippines — Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will promote environmental protection and people’s health.

According to DENR in a press release on Friday, the memorandum was signed on Tuesday by Environment Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga and US EPA Administrator Michael Regan.

“As the adverse impacts of climate change and environmental degradation continue to impact the most vulnerable of the society, this collaboration will allow us to develop local adaptation and risk reduction strategies, and integrate community and ecosystem resilience into green growth pathways,” Loyzaga said.

The memorandum will engage both countries in developing solutions to face climate change and improve environmental laws.

“Today marks a significant milestone in the enduring partnership between the United States and the Philippines: a partnership for prosperity,” United States Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson said.
