Idolz shock Bhutakalz
THE Super Idolz upset favored Bhutakalz, 74-61, last Saturday to even their win-loss records at 6-2 while defending champion Los Demonyous and the Pecandela Law Firm beat separate foes to forge a four-way tie on top of the standings at the close of the elimination round of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-2012 8th Season summer basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
Bhutakalz jumped to a, 20-16 lead in the opening period but the Idolz went strong the rest of the way to seal the 13-point demolition.
Benjo Macion and Fermin Pepito scored 16 and 15 points, respectively for the Idolz, while Cris Ang and Resty Arnaiz paced Bhutakalz with a combined effort of 27 points.
In the other game, Pecandela Law Firm pulverized Primos, 87-53 with Ivans Gamallo and Tommy Yu scoring 22 and 19 points, respectively, while Noly Rama and Mat Velez paced Primos with 15 points apiece.
Meanwhile, defending champion Los Demonyous nipped Pañeros, 80-78.
Richard Bauzon and Chug Cadiogan powered Demonyous with 21 and 19 points, respectively, while Dennis Aliño and Barry Busi paced Pañeros with 20 and 15 points.
Article continues after this advertisementEarlier, the Eagles routed Jodin, 92-69, for its 5th win in eight games (5-3), while the latter fell further down the cellar with a dismal 1-7 card.
