A third year college student who shot and assaulted his female classmate at the parking lot of Saint Paul University Philippines in Tuguegarao has been temporarily released after a local court allowed him to post P236,000 bail.

MANILA, Philippines — A third year college student who shot and assaulted his female classmate at the parking lot of Saint Paul University Philippines in Tuguegarao has been temporarily released after a local court allowed him to post P236,000 bail.

Police Regional Office 2 spokesperson Major Sharon Mallinllin told INQUIRER.net that respondent Kristian Rafael Ramos, a medical technology student, was able to post bail on Wednesday.

“He was able to post a P200,000 bail for frustrated murder and P36,000 [for violating] BP 881 (Batas Pambansa Bilang 881 or Omnibus Election Code,” Mallinllin said in a phone interview on Thursday.

She added that the bail order was issued by Tuguegarao City Regional Trial Court Branch 5.

Based on police reports and as seen on a CCTV footage that went viral, Ramos shot victim Althea Vivien Mendoza twice before pistol whipping her head 11 times last November 13.

Mendoza was rushed to the Cagayan United Medical Doctors Hospital, where she is currently in critical condition.
