Mom of missing beauty queen clings to hope and believes her daughter is still alive

MANILA, Philippines – The mother of Catherine Camilon has remained hopeful that her daughter is still alive despite demoralizing reports about the missing beauty queen.

In her heart, Rosario Camilon has deep-seated faith that her daughter is still alive.

“Sa totoo po lang, kahit po ganiyan ang mga lumalabas na balita, ganiyan ang naririnig at nakikita namin na masasamang balita, sa puso ko ramdam ko naman po na nandiyan lang siya, ramdam ko po at hindi ko po isinasapuso na siya ay wala na,” Rosario said over Radyo 630.

She also denied knowing about her daughter’s purported relationship with Police Major Allan de Castro, who is currently considered one of the suspects in the disappearance of Catherine.

According to Rosario, her daughter often told her family that she was leaving for Batangas City to do extra work.

“Lagi lang niyang ipinapaalam sa amin na pupunta siyang Batangas City, mayroon daw siyang ginagawa doong extrang income, trabaho,” Rosario said.

(She always tells us she is going to Batangas City because she is doing something there for extra income work.)

Catherine was first reported missing on October 12. She last spoke to her mother at 8 p.m. that day, telling Rosario she would attend a meeting in Batangas City.

On November 15, police said de Castro admitted to having a relationship with Catherine while talking to investigators but mum on matters related to her disappearance.

The Philippine National Police also said early this week that complaints of kidnapping and severe illegal detention were already filed against de Castro, his driver Jeffrey Arreola Magpantay, and two “John Does.”
