Sara pays tribute to former VPs as OVP marks 88th anniversary
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday paid tribute to the country’s former vice presidents during the 88th founding anniversary of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
During the audio-visual presentation, past vice presidents were featured, including former Vice President Leni Robredo, who ran against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Duterte’s running mate in the 2022 election. ,
“Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng bumubuo ng OVP, kabilang na ang lahat ng mga dating Pangalawang Pangulo ng Pilipinas. Sila ang nagsimula, nagtayo, at nagpatibay sa Office of the Vice President. Dahil sa kanilang sipag, talino, at matatag na pamumuno, naging mahalagang bahagi ng kasaysayan ng Pilipinas at ng buhay ng mga Pilipino ang OVP,” said Duterte in her speech.
(I wholeheartedly thank all who formed the OVP, including all previous Vice Presidents of the Philippines. They started, established, and strengthened the Office of the Vice President. Because of their hard work, intelligence, and strong leadership, the OVP became an important part of Philippine history, as well as the lives of Filipinos.)
Another notable vice president that Duterte paid tribute to was former president turned Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
