LEGAZPI CITY – In-person classes in some towns in Camarines Norte remained suspended on Wednesday due to continuous heavy rainfall brought by the shear line.
The local governments issued another suspension of classes at all levels in public and private schools in towns of Daet, Basud, Mercedes, Talisay, Vinzons, Paracale, Labo, and Capalonga.
On Tuesday, Nov. 14, Gov. Ricarte Padilla suspended classes in the province but later advised the local officials to declare localized orders depending on the situation in their areas.
Ricarte also asked local disaster risk reduction and management offices to activate their operation centers and conduct pre-emptive evacuation, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
In Labo, Mayor Severino Francisco Jr. said in an advisory that as of 3:30 a.m., the Labo river slightly subsided but the major spillways were still impassable.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Southern Luzon said in an advisory on Wednesday morning that light to moderate rains were experienced in the province.
In a thunderstorm advisory at 9:30 a.m., Pagasa said moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds were being experienced in Camarines Sur and Albay.
Meanwhile, classes at all levels in public and private schools in Albay resumed on Wednesday.
