MANILA, Philippines — The National Privacy Commission has reminded Personal Information Controllers (PICs) and Personal Information Processors (PIPs) to display their NPC Seal of Registration at the main entrance or conspicuous locations of their offices for visibility.

According to the NPC, PICs and PIPs are people or organizations tasked to process, hold, collect, or control the information sent by people.

“All Personal Information Controllers and Personal Information Processors are required to prominently display the NPC Seal of Registration at the main entrance of your place of business, office, or at the most conspicuous place to ensure visibility to all data subjects,” the NPC said in an advisory on Monday.

Likewise,  the commission said that NPC Seals of Registration should also be posted on the websites of PICs and PIPs, where it can be easily visible to online visitors.

“For those PICs and PIPs with an online presence, it is imperative that the NPC Seal of Registration be made visible to website visitors. You can achieve this by either embedding it as a link within your Privacy Notice or prominently displaying it on your webpage,” it added.

The NPC also said that PICs and PIPs who do not comply will face penalties, ranging from administrative fines to revocation of their certificate of registration to issuance of a cease and desist order from processing personal data.

“The NPC is committed to ensuring strict compliance with these requirements and will not hesitate to enforce penalties and fines on organizations found in violation. We emphasize the crucial importance of adhering to these guidelines for the protection of individuals’ privacy rights,” it said.
