DSWD warns public of suspicious link promising prizes for survey answers

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday debunked a “suspicious link” circulating online claiming the department would give prizes to survey respondents.

According to the DSWD, the link is being passed through Facebook and Messenger.

DSWD said the promise that the department would provide the latest model of a cellphone and cash prizes as part of their 85th anniversary is untrue.

“Ang DSWD ay hindi namimigay ng gift prizes kapalit ng pagsagot sa survey o pag-access ng suspicious link,” it said in an advisory.

(The DSWD does not give gifts in exchange for answering a survey or accessing a suspicious link.)

“Bukod pa rito, ang DSWD ay magdiriwang pa lamang ng ika-73 na anibersayo sa paparating na January 31, 2024,” it added.

(The DSWD will also celebrate its 73rd anniversary on January 31, 2024.)

The department then advised the public not to click links sent on Facebook Messenger that use its name but are not from their official pages.

The department’s official social media accounts and website can be accessed by clicking the following links:

DSWD further instructed the public to be vigilant and verify online content that are not from credible and reliable sources.
