Agri damage due to storm, floods reaches P692M—DA

MANILA, Philippines—Agricultural damage due to Tropical Depression “Egay” and floods wrought by nonstop rains last week reached P692 million as of June 24, the Department of Agriculture said in a statement released to the media on Monday.

Citing a report by Agriculture Undersecretary for Operations Joel S. Rudinas, the DA said that 13 provinces in Luzon and Mindanao have so far submitted estimates on agricultural losses, comprising P560 million for rice, P121 million for corn, P10 million for high-value crops and P1 million for livestock and poultry.
