10 BSKE winners disqualified due to premature campaigning, vote-buying

MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified a total of 21 candidates in the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataang Elections (BSKE).

The candidacies of 20 of them were invalidated due to premature campaigning.

One was penalized for vote-buying.

Ten of 21 bets won in the elections, while eleven lost.

Among the 21 resolutions, 17 decisions are considered final and executory.

Three candidates have asked for reconsideration of the decisions.

One bet is still in the period to determine whether or not to file an appeal.

In October, Comelec warned it intended to suspend the proclamation of candidates with pending cases.
