Pagasa monitoring LPA off Palawan, low chances to become tropical depression
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) on Thursday.
According to the weather bureau, the LPA was 395 kilometers west southwest off Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Pagasa said the LPA has a low chance of becoming a tropical depression and is possible to exit the Philippine area of responsibility within the day.
“Itong nasabing low pressure area ay nananatiling mababa ang tiyansa na maging isang bagyo sa mga susunod na araw, at posible na lumabas ng ating Philippine area of responsibility ngayong araw,” weather specialist Patrick del Mundo reported in their morning weather forecast.

Del Mundo said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands, due to the LPA.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said that the northeast monsoon continues to affect Batanes and Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands. It will bring cloudy skies with light rains in the areas.
The rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. The weather bureau said that these are due to thunderstorms, and easterlies, or the warm air coming from the Pacific Ocean.
No gale warning was raised over the country’s seaboards, but Pagasa advised sailors in Northern Luzon to take precautionary measures as the northeast monsoon may bring moderate to strong coastal waters in the area.
